Outreach Projects
Big Biology is a podcast were I join efforts with Art Woods, Marty Martin, Matt Blois, and others to tackle big questions in biology in a language that is understandable to everyone. We bring top scientists from all around the globe to talk about fundamental topics in biology such as scaling in body size, the importance of stochasticity and plasticity vs genes, and of course, the most important one of them all: the evolutionary history and biological meaning of drinking. Check us out at www.bigbiology.org!
Fungus Among Us
We turned the main findings of our last paper into an outreach video because public-funded science should reach the people. Check it out to learn more about the relationship between trees and fungi and their shenanigans during times of stress. You can also read more in detail about this research in this blog post.
This video was developed by Made Thinking and funded by University of Montana, New Phytologist, MPG Ranch and myself. Help us disseminate the video so that we can do more videos like this!
SciArt
Talking Pines
SciArt is an artistic collaboration with Anne Yoncha that explores unconventional communication channels such as audiovisual art and walk-in pieces to bring science closer to people. This initiative came as a response to the late increase in skepticism towards science and the need of new ways to communicate science to people in a meaningful and effective way. By using channels other than logic, spoken conversations, and scientific literature we attempt to bypass potential mind blockages established within classical communication channels to better reach your audience.
